Claude Ultra: check which limit shapes your work
Claude's $200 web plan has a new name and no five-hour limit for verified accounts. Weekly limits remain. Check your own usage before changing plans.
Find out whether a short session limit or a weekly allowance is stopping your work, then choose a plan around the tasks you actually need.
A new name and a different pause
If Claude stops during a building session, first check which limit you reached. Knowing whether it is a shorter session limit or the weekly allowance helps you plan the next stretch of work.
On October 30, Anthropic announced that Max 5x is becoming Max and Max 20x is becoming Ultra. Existing subscribers move to the new names automatically, with no price change.
The listed web prices remain US$100 a month for Max and US$200 a month for Ultra, before applicable tax. Anthropic says mobile prices may vary. Ultra is an individual plan; subscriptions for teams have separate terms.

What verified means here
The important change is that verified Ultra accounts no longer have the five-hour session limit. Anthropic says it began removing that limit for most existing subscribers on October 30. Newer or unverified accounts keep a temporary limit until the automatic check is complete.
Anthropic uses factors such as account and payment history for that check. Verifying a phone number at checkout is a separate step and does not remove the temporary limit. The company has not given a date when every account will qualify.
To check your status, open Settings and then Usage. Anthropic's help guide says that an Ultra account without a Current session bar is verified. There is no verification action you need to request.
The weekly allowance still matters
Weekly limits remain. The current plan lists ten times Pro's weekly usage, with a separate weekly limit for Fable, one of Claude's model choices. Other capacity restrictions may also apply.
Verified accounts can use their remaining weekly allowance at their own pace. Planning against that weekly total helps you decide whether the plan fits your work.
Before paying more, notice what happens during your own work. Do you stop while there is still plenty of weekly capacity, or have you already used the week's allowance? The same upgrade may help those two situations differently.
Plan one useful session
Give a longer session a clear finish line. If you are learning to build with AI, choose one task whose result you can inspect, such as making an empty request list explain what to do next. Save a short note when you stop so you can continue without rebuilding the whole conversation.
If you already have enough access for the work you need, keep practising with it. If a limit repeatedly interrupts useful work, bring a record of those interruptions to your next decision. You will be comparing the plan with your needs.
- Check your plan name and the limits shown in Usage.
- Write one outcome you want from your next session.
- Keep track of completed work and where a limit interrupts it.
- Review that record before changing your subscription.
