Notion AI credits: check what supports your next task
Notion moves existing Business and Enterprise workspaces to its new AI credit system on November 2. Check one useful task, its allowance and who funds it.
Open your Notion AI usage settings, check the allowance for one task you rely on, and agree who reviews its cost and keeps it running.
Start with the work you want to keep doing
Choose one Notion AI task that helps you get useful work done. Open its usage settings and check which allowance it uses. If other people rely on the result, ask who funds the task and who notices if it pauses.
November 2 is the changeover date for existing Business and Enterprise workspaces under Notion's new AI credit system. The company announced it on October 19, when it began applying to new workspaces. This is a scheduled change reaching existing customers today.

You have two different included allowances
Notion generally includes 1,500 Standard credits and 500 Select credits per member each month. Credits are units used to count AI work. Your allowance can vary with your plan and purchasing arrangement, so check the amount shown in Settings, under Notion AI and Usage.
Standard credits support work where Notion chooses the AI model through Auto. Select credits support choosing a model yourself and, by default, new Custom Agents, the AI helpers you set up for a particular job.
The allowances are separate, cannot move between people and do not roll over. When one runs out, the affected work can pause until it resets. An administrator can allow eligible work to continue using separately purchased workspace credits.
Keep the dates and features clear
Notion says AI Meeting Notes will start consuming the monthly Standard allowance on December 1. That part does not begin today. Its current feature guide also says ordinary software connections can read or update Notion records without using AI credits. Those connections still have limits on how often they can make requests.
An unrenewed contract does not automatically postpone today's change. Notion's announcement says existing customers move on November 2, with allowances set according to their plan at renewal. Ask your account team about your arrangement if you have one.
Make the next practice session count
Pick a harmless example whose answer you can check yourself. Try it with Auto, review the result and note the usage. That gives you a starting point for choosing an approach based on the job, rather than always selecting a model by name.
- Write down the result you need from one task.
- Check its credit source, remaining allowance and reset date.
- Review one completed run for accuracy and unnecessary repeated work.
- Agree who adjusts the task if its cost or result needs attention.
Bring the same questions to your own tool
Our perspective is that knowing how a tool keeps running is a useful building skill. If you are learning, practise explaining the allowance and the pause point in ordinary words. If someone is building for you, ask them to include those details in the handover. You can then plan the work with fewer surprises.
