The useful part

Ask your service owner and budget owner to review one past interruption together. Compare the work Paige can help with, the approvals it needs and the full cost after included usage.

Start with the work that interrupts your team

If service problems repeatedly pull people away from planned work, start by identifying which part takes their time. Finding the right records, briefing colleagues and writing up the result are different jobs. Decide which one you want help with before buying more automation.

On November 3, PagerDuty launched Paige, an AI helper for teams keeping business services running, alongside the PD Reliability Platform. The platform was previously called Operations Cloud. Both are now generally available.

The decision is about more than a new name. PagerDuty is combining response tools with plans that include allowances for people, incoming alerts and AI actions. That changes what a buyer needs to compare.

Compare the whole package

The published annual platform fee starts at $2,800 for Starter. Essential is $12,000 a year, Plus is $48,000, and Ultimate has custom pricing. These are US dollar prices shown on the pricing page, not a quote for your business.

Each plan includes different amounts of usage. Additional capacity can be bought with credits. AI actions consume the allowance differently depending on the task; PagerDuty directs customers to Your Subscription for the applicable action costs.

Existing customers should check their own contract. The pricing page says purchases made before November 3 may have different included amounts. Do not assume the new table describes your current account.

Keep approved actions separate from future promises

PagerDuty describes Paige bringing together records about a service problem, suggesting possible causes and preparing the review afterward. It can run approved actions where the required instructions and connections are available.

Its product explanation still labels resolving well-understood problems without a person’s approval as coming soon. Deep Investigation and SRE Workbench are also preview experiments. Assess the capabilities available to your account today.

Our perspective: useful support begins with evidence your team can check. Have the service owner decide which actions need approval and how a person takes over. A launch announcement is not evidence that your business can reduce its on-call cover.

Check the first-year offer and what follows

PagerDuty is offering additional AI actions during the first year for qualifying Essential, Plus and Ultimate customers who sign by January 15, 2027. Eligibility and terms need checking with the supplier.

Compare that first year with the following year before committing. Ask what happens when the included amount runs out, which activity uses credits and how your team sees its remaining allowance. An offer can lower trial costs without establishing the long-term cost of the service.

Review one known problem before expanding

Before renewal or a new purchase, let the service owner choose a past problem whose cause and outcome are already known. Use approved test information and compare Paige’s work with the record your team trusts. We have not tested Paige.

  1. Choose one job to assess, such as preparing the initial briefing or drafting the incident review.
  2. Record what the helper gets right and how much review or correction it needs.
  3. Give the budget owner a usage estimate covering incoming alerts, actions and people who need access.
  4. Keep the current response owner and approval rules until the trial supports a deliberate change.
